The purpose of the workshop held by Luciano Perondi and Riccardo De Franceschi was to design an open-source character for maps, using FontLab. Each student proposed several models of hand-drawn characters, from which the teacher chose the best one.
The first step was to quickly transform the draws in a digital font using modular elements, in order to verify its shape and readability. Then the class was divided into groups and each of them developed different styles of the font.
