Lexis il mostro is an interactive game for dyslexic children which aims to support the processes of reading, memorizing and association in a kinestethic, ludic and amusing way.

It is designed for Sifteo Cubes, a new game platform with mini-screens and proximity sensors, that offers a new play experience.

How it works
Insiede Lexis are exercises, presented as mini-games, that allow the testing and development of specific skills. To encourage the dyslexic subject to test regularly, the game has been designed with a captivating character. The child has to keep a little monster through three different areas: feeding, cleaning and fun. The mini-games are included in this context and only at the end of the game is it possible to unlock some special bonus, useful for the character’s needs. Last but not least, this instrument allows teachers and parents to check the progress of the child, thanks to the data saved on the associated website.

Lexis is proposed as a tool to support and improve skills during the learning path. It differs from existing projects for dyslexic subjects in that it focuses on the cognitive and psychomotor difficulties deriving from dyslexia and aims at full emotional wellbeing. Furthermore, it is based on a multisensorial concept that allows language learning to improve through games and the use of the senses.

DaTe is a mobile phone App which allows escorts to manage their work in a more simple, and discreet way.
This application becomes a virtual place where escorts can hide their luxurious secret life and work in tranquillity and safety.

Venice is a cosmopolitan city visited by thousands of visitors and travellers every day. It’s a magic city par excellence. Many old palazzi, private residences and hotels are the perfect venues for exclusive and luxury parties and receptions. These could be the very occasions for male visitors to use DaTe to find a suitable escort.

DaTe’s main purpose is to get away from the idea of a money transfer and focus on the gift instead, as a nice way to thank the lady for the good time spent together.

DaTe application’s main user is the escort. Her only duty is to accompany gentlemen travelling alone and seeking company while in Venice, and not necessarily to provide sexual favours. She is supposed to be refined, elegant and educated, able to beautifully entertain her occasional parter with brilliant conversations on any topic.
DaTe application’s second user is her client, a wealthy gentleman in Venice for business, who would like to spend his free time in good company.

Personal Contribute
I proposed the metaphor of the room; this was used for the final graphics and I also did the graphic design for some internal parts of the escort application. I created most of the code and the final code that encompasses all aspects of the application.

El Gobo (“the hunchback”), a sculpture in Venice’s Rialto market, is sometimes called “the guardian of memories“. Satirical notes were attached to it, and from it were proclaimed official notices.

The mobile phone app elgobo allows people, wishing to auction personal memorabilia, to attach personal stories to them. The auctioneer stands on the sculpture to conduct the auction, and buyers bid in real time, either in person or remotely via the app. This app allows remote bidders to participate in the urgency and suspense of the physical auction.

People often hold on to old things for the simple reason of holding on to our past, to memorie. Even though they are kept in storage, having them reassures us that we haven’t lost our stories, our lives, ourselves. Through time, the stories of things we have once used become attached to them. The ordinary transcends into the deeply valuable and meaningful.

The purpose of this application is to highlight the emotional value of objects, as opposed to their material value, and to get people to act together to revive memories 
left behind by time.

Personal contribute
I developed the graphics design for some screen. I took care of final details of the code, in particular the inclusion of audio on iProcessing and possible solutions to make the “bidding” using the accelerometer. I also helped in shooting of videos.

The purpose of the workshop held by Luciano Perondi and Riccardo De Franceschi was to design an open-source character for maps, using FontLab. Each student proposed several models of hand-drawn characters, from which the teacher chose the best one.
The first step was to quickly transform the draws in a digital font using modular elements, in order to verify its shape and readability. Then the class was divided into groups and each of them developed different styles of the font.

In recent years, finding a job has become even more difficult and complicated. Global financial crisis has led to millions of job losses. The man’s situation is not very good, but he must not surrender.
First of all, we must be predisposed to change and we must abandon our traditional ideas of a permanent job, that in this period seems a distant goal.
It is necessary to make the best use of tools for worker and we must not underestimate the importance of the Internet. The internet provides an amazing resource for those searching for new jobs: there are recruiting sites, blogs, social networks and virtual job fairs.
It seems clear that job search is a most salient issue, for those without a job and for those who want to find a concrete solution to the problem.

Thus is born the idea of an innovative project which uses new technologies to realize a service of social design.
The aim is exploit the Web 2.0 features and the potential of network to match labour supply with labour demand.
At the heart of the project is the concept of service: this “social work network” allow users to access informations which may be of interest in professional field, and using infographic techniques and a georeferenced map this informations are given through visual feedbacks.
Users can easily find the solutions which best suits their needs through a special search engine. Setting one or more refinement filter, immediately map shows the colored icons which indicate the results based on their choices.

This booklet is a short introduction to interaction design theory and gives every reader the opportunity to understand the profession of interaction designers. It summarizes themes, practices and tools used by this figure, through analysis of the various stages of design and some examples.
I submitted this document for the exam on June 6th, 2011 of the Interaction Design Theory 1 course (Teorie dell’interazione) given by Gillian Crampton Smith with Philip Tabor at the Faculty of Design and Arts, Iuav University of Venice.

Creation of logo and promotional video editing for Weatherize, a data visualization installation by Roberto Fazio and Gianluca Macaluso.

Weatherize allows an immediate visual representation of meteorological data coming from a city. Users can interact choosing by Twitter their favorite cities using the hashtag #wtrz NameCity. In real time, the system returns the representation of weather conditions regarding temperature, humidity and wind speed at that precise moment, which change according to the city selected by the user.

Arriminnati is the packaging designed for the Sicilian sweet “minni di Virgini”. The shape of packaging ensures that the sweet gets to the customer in the intended state, during transport.

The packs could be stacked and after eating the sweet were reusable by the consumer, such as boxes or to repurchase the product.

On the outer surface is applied a thermoformed film printed with the logo and information about the history of the sweet; instead on the bottom is applied a label with the ingredients.

Personal contribute
I took care of the technical details of the project working on the prototype and created the brand and part of the graphic of the project.

Le Vie di Sicilia Association is a non-profit organization which deals with enhancing and discover many aspects of Sicilian landscape.
Man can appreciate the beauties of the world, thanks the visual sense. The logo represents what the eye sees: a horizon, a path, a way to go… in Sicily.
Other application of the logo have been used on headed paper, business card, T-shirts and bookmarks.

A3 poster designed for the protest against the education reform proposed by italian Minister Gelmini.
The message of a poster should be very clear. Despite a large number of students, teachers, scientists and a large share of population joined the protest, the power of the minority always win on the will of the community.
